Australian Chaperoned or Nepalese Locally Led Treks?
Should you not be well versed in international travel and you’re not quite comfortable arriving in Nepal and meeting our local team on the ground yourself, we recommend you choose to participate in one of our Australian Chaperoned Treks. On this trek you will have one of our amazing Australian team members on the ground to meet you upon your arrival in Kathmandu and they will be with you for the duration of your journey.
If you are comfortable travelling internationally and you’re not anxious by the thought of meeting a stranger at the airport to host you, you will prefer to be on one of our Nepalese Led treks
Regardless of which trek option you choose, your trek guide will be one of our amazing Nepalese team, who are experts in Himalayan adventures. They take care of your every need with arranging the best lodging, all of your meals and taking care of any specific requirements you may have. They will teach you about the history of the Himalaya, the culture of the people who inhabit the area, the flora, the fauna, and all you want to know about the mountains. On our Australian Chaperoned treks, the Guide leads you and the chaperone hosts you.
Please note, we only run one trek a year with our Australian staff on the ground with you and there will need to be a minimum of six participants, any less than this and this trek will be made Nepalese led.
What time of year?
Late September to November and February to May are the main trekking months with fairly stable conditions, good visibility and temperatures. Mid May is the most popular time you’ll see climbers preparing for their ascent up Mount Everest.
Nepal has several other options if these main trekking seasons don’t suit you. Reach out and one of our experts will be able to help you plan and tailor your adventure to your needs.

IMPORTANT INFo
Why Choose The Himalayas with World Wide Adventures
When you research Himalayan travel providers you will come up with literally thousands of options. They will all tell you what is so amazing about themselves, I mean we have too!
They say that nobody submits a bad resume and that’s exactly what a website just like this is, a professional business resume. What I can tell you is we’re here as one of the Australian based companies offering you an amazing Himalayan experience.
No matter what you seek to achieve in Nepal, we can help you achieve it. If you’re looking for a standard trekking experience, we have a trek to suit your needs. If you’re looking for something a little more bespoke, we can help you create this, or if you’re looking at some peak climbing, we can assist there too! No matter what you desire in Nepal, we can help you.
One of the main benefits of choosing us is nothing is hidden. You’ll notice our prices seem way more expensive than many of our offshore competitors, that’s because our treks are priced in AUD and not USD. We’ve factored into your package all the hidden costs some of the others don’t tell you about until later, like charter flights, meals on the trail and tipping! Tipping is mandatory in Nepal, and we guide you on who is to be tipped and what you should expect to tip them, this is so you don’t have to worry about anything when you arrive.
So why choose us? because we created the business we would want to use if we were the client and we want you to have the most amazing experience and be looking at the mountains and loving this experience, not looking at your wallet and worrying.
Inclusions and Exclusions
Nepal Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you seem so expensive compared to other companies?
On first glance we are more expensive, and there is a very good reason too! When you look at other companies that facilitate treks in Nepal, they charge in US Dollars, not in Australian Dollars like we do. When you book with us, because you’re paying in AUD, you’re protected by Australian Consumer Laws. Because many of our competitors are charging you in USD, depending on the exchange rate at that time, you could pay even more than you assess on first comparison.
In addition to this, we’ve included almost every cost, like domestic charters, meals on the trail, permits, wages for the guides and carriers, accommodation and more! The one cost we haven’t included however is tipping, which is mandatory on the trails in Nepal. The reason we haven’t included this is you deserve to have the right to tip the staff as you see fit. Rather than include the tips into the fee, you have the choice to tip based on your experience. With tipping, you can expect to pay anywhere up to $600AUD in tips for your adventure. While this seems like a lot, depending on the size of your group, you’re expected to tip the guide, the assistant guide/s and the porters who carry the bags, this adds up and we’re here to help and support you paying the right people the right amount. We don’t want this to be thrust upon you when you’re on the trail. We want you to know what to expect and how to best facilitate these transactions.
Added to this, if you were to seek to book onto one of our Australian led Treks, you pay for one of our Australian team to be with you for the entirety of your adventure. They meet you at the airport in Kathmandu, show you Thamel, and help take you to all of the stores we recommend to obtain any last minute equipment you need for your adventure. They walk the trek with and support you, facilitating all of the liaisons on your behalf. This is why on the surface our treks seem more expensive than our competitors. But believe us when we tell you, while you may feel like you pay more when you trek with us, you reap the benefits from knowing there are no hidden costs, your booking is protected and all you have to focus on is a life changing adventure to remember.
How do I book a trek?
Just head to the ‘Dates’ section on this website and select the adventure you’d like to do. To complete your booking, you will pay a 20% deposit of the full trek price. Please note that your deposit is non-refundable, but it is transferrable to another trek should you have to change trek dates. The balance of your payment will be due eight weeks prior to your trek. The deposit is non-refundable because it pays for the facilitation of your administration and your balance is due so far in advance so that we can pay for the services you require for your trek.
Do you have an age limit?
We don’t have an ‘age limit’ but what we would do if you have younger children or if you are a little older is have a discussion and work with you. We’re not the ‘gate keepers’ of these experiences and it’s not up to us to tell you can or you can’t do this, we guide you with realistic expectations and allow you to make the best decision for you! The main thing that we will discuss with you is the fact that you will be on your feet for up to eight to ten hours a day, on consecutive days and at altitude. If you think this is ok, then we’re here and waiting to help take you!
What if I change my mind and can no longer trek?
You will see the full refund policy on this page. This details your options should you change your mind or can no longer trek.
Do you organise travel for us?
While we don’t facilitate your travel to and from Nepal, we don’t book your flights for you. The reason, we want you to be able to choose the provider you seek, at the time and price point you desire. We know that international travel can be stressful enough and we want you to book flights knowing the transfer destinations and the time to fly to these, that’s why we guide you, but allow you to book your flights yourself. That said, we work with a travel agent who knows what you will need and we’re happy for you to use their services. They’re able to book your flights and organise your travel insurance for you with your chosen airline, at a time and cost which suits you! They can then send copies of this information to us, so this is one less thing again you have to do.
How many people will be on my trek?
This varies, but you could expect to have not more than eight people on our group treks. We find this number is intimate enough that you don’t get lost, but big enough that you can find your own space when you want this too.
What is the accommodation like?
In Kathmandu, you will be in a 4-star hotel (twin share) and on the trail you will have twin share accommodation in the local Tea Houses (think like a ski lodge in Australia). The tea houses have bathrooms, a dining room and showers in the tea houses at the lower altitudes.
What if I don’t want twin share accommodation?
You’re able to purchase a single supplement at the time of booking. While this is not an issue in Kathmandu, there may be a time on the trail where this is unable to be achieved. This is due to the number of people on the trail at that time. We need you to know that there is no ability to pre-book accommodation in the Tea Houses, so we make every effort to make this a reality for you. If you choose the single supplement, please know we will do our best to achieve this while you trekking.
What will I eat on the trail?
Each Tea House has a kitchen and dining room with a full menu. You will have a range of choices to suit all diets, allergies and or intolerances. Note: If you have an allergy, intolerance or preference, we will work with you so the trekking and kitchen staff know what they can prepare for your meals.
What administration do I need to complete to be ready to travel?
When you book, we send you a letter which details the things we need you to do, like booking your travel insurance (if you haven’t already), plus booking your flights and advising us of the dates and times of your arrival. We guide you on the acquisition of your visa applications, transportation in Nepal, your hotel and what you equipment you need to bring with you. This may sound like a lot, but it’s pretty easy and we help you along the way!
Why do I need travel insurance to travel with you?
It is a mandatory requirement that all participants on one of our adventures have travel insurance. Travel insurance not only protects you from theft and cancelled flights, but it means that if you become ill or are injured, we can evacuate you to the nearest suitable medical facility, where they pay for your treatment. Furthermore, in extreme cases, your travel insurer will pay for your return to Australia. It is for this reason why travel insurance in mandatory. Note: In order for the best protection of your adventure, we recommend you obtain your travel insurance as soon as you book your trek with us, if not before! This guarantees you the best possible protection in the event something happens, your insurance protects your booking. Note: You wouldn’t get insurance for your new car a week after you drove it out of the car lot, so don’t do the same thing here.. Get your insurance as soon as you can.
I don’t want to trek with a group, I want to trek alone, can you help?
Yes, we can! Whilst the cost to do this will be more than a group rate, we can facilitate your travel should you want to go by yourself with a guide. If this is what you want, get in touch, we’re here to assist you.
Do I need to be vaccinated?
At World Wide Adventures we hold no feeling towards your vaccination status, but the Nepalese Government may. Should you not be vaccinated, and Nepali legislation states you need to be, this is between you and them and remains your risk.
Refund Policy

Should you pay in full at the time of booking, please be aware that 20% of the full package cost remains non-refundable. The 20% is non-refundable as it covers our cost to facilitate your administration. Should you desire, you’re welcome to pay for your adventure incrementally and interest free.
